The silver plating may tarnish due to the properties of the component, for a certain period of time after production. The new mouthpiece may retain properties of the ebony material and may tarnish when stored in the instrument case with silver-plated instruments, riggers, and caps. It is also prone to discoloration when stored in high temperatures and humidity. To avoid the silver plating from tarnishing, we recommend storing the mouthpiece separately from the instrument in the outside pocket of the instrument case (wrapped with a soft cloth that does not damage the silver plating).
